Within the basketball community, February is regarded as the month of the All-Star Weekend and All-Star Game. No wonder Jordan Brand and Nike drop their respective special All-Star themed kicks while certain colorways even receive the retro treatment. Apparently, Jordan Brand already has plans to celebrate the All-Star Game by dropping a special edition Air Jordan 6 Retro on February 17th that pays tribute to Michael Jordan’s various ASG achievements.

The debuting Black and Red iteration of the New Jordans 2016, dubbed "Banned," draws inspiration from the original Air Jordan 1 from 1985 that had actually gotten banned for violating the NBA’s uniform policy. As far as its design is concerned, the Air Jordan 31 and the Air Jordan 1 appear to have similar profiles, although the latest model features a Flyweave and Leather construction. Moreover, the Jumpman branding that the Air Jordan 31 sports is also accompanied by the iconic Jordan Wings and Nike Swoosh logos, which have not appeared on an Air Jordan silhouette in a very long time. In addition, the Air Jordan 31 is also equipped with FlightSpeed technology and full-length Zoom Air. As a result, the sneaker offers enhanced cushioning and lateral support, while is also more responsive. Perhaps it is even more surprising that the Air Jordan 31 "Banned" is scheduled to make its retail debut at select Jordan Brand and Nike stores on September 3rd of this year rather than in 2017. Its retail price has also been confirmed to be $185. Of course, the "Banned" is not the only Air Jordan 31 colorway that Jordan Brand intends to drop. Apart from the "Brazil" and "Olympic/USA" iterations, photos of a Chicago Bulls-inspired, Home-themed rendition also surfaced recently.
